Catching Up
Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 7:51PM Oh man! I suck! When I started the new blog I had hopes of contributing every week. Well...that hasn't happened. Let me tell you what has been happening
IBC 2010
Man I loved Amsterdam! I spent a week in Amsterdam teaching classes for Future Media Concepts and it was an absolute blast. Although the education conference was a little light on attendance it was great connecting with new folks and people that I had only talked to over the net.
The funny thing as instructer was that American humor was kind of lost on a mostly Euro audiance. At one point talking about something technical I said " its like a band-aid on a bullet hole" The reaction: Nothing! Then in the back of the session a young Italian guy raises his hand and says "what means bullet hole and band-aid". I did everything I could not to loose it! The point is I have to learn to modulate humor and analogies for audiences abroad.
One or the best things about Amsterdam is the time I spent with Rich Harrington and Alexis Van Hurkman exploring the conference and the city. With Alexis we had some great face time with the Davinci Resolve Team and we also had a great time exploring new color grading tools and gear. Alexis' has a great write up on his site of the things we saw.
With Rich we explored the incredible city of Amsterdam shooting thousands of photos and lots of video here are small sample of what we got

Final Cut Server 1.5 Getting Started
After getting back from Amsterdam my next project was recording Final Cut Server 1.5 Getting Started for lynda.com. I was very exited to get this title out as its been something I've been thinking about for a long time. See, the thing with FCS is that its a very hard tool to teach as every installation will be different. For this title I tried to give users the basics of administering and using the client application. I hopeful that viewers will find this title fun and engaging.
NY Post 2010
After getting back from California recording my Final Cut Server title I headed up to NYC for the NY Post Conference. The whole gig was awesome! While visiting NYC I was able to catch up with a lot colleagues and also had some great students.
Color Grading
In between all of that traveling I graded almost 30 shows for Discovery, TLC, PBS and others. Its crazy this year I'm on pace to grade about 155 hours of programing for a variety of networks
I can't promise but I do hope to be more consistent with this blog! More soon!
